The Critic is a news outlet dedicated to serving the students of Vermont State University – Lyndon. Our goal is to provide quality journalistic and editorial content to VTSU-Lyndon through various platforms. We will deliver a range of opinions while keeping a high standard of journalistic integrity and self-respect. We will serve the interests of the students of Lyndon and strive to keep them informed, educated, and entertained.
Club Meetings
The Critic will be hosting general board meetings every Wednesday at 5:30 pm in ASAC 216 this semester. Arrangements can always be made for Zoom conference calls by contacting the Editor in Chief ahead of the meeting.
The executive board meets approximately once a month or as deemed necessary by the Editor in Chief. These are closed meetings. The dates for the Fall 2024 semester are still being determined at this time.
Club meetings may have recorded meeting minutes that are available to the student body and the VTSU-Lyndon community by request.

Meet Our Executive Board
The Critic is a completely student-run organization. Our club is managed by a team of students working together with a faculty advisor on our executive board.
Editor in Chief • Evan Colman
Evan Colman is a second-year Music Business and Industry student concentrating in Audio Production. He came to The Critic with previous journalism experience at his high school in Maine, stepping into the Associate Editor role halfway through the Fall 2022 semester and soon after becoming The Critic’s Editor in Chief for the Fall 2023 school year. Colman has a passion for connecting campus events to history in his writing whenever possible. He strives to keep the student body informed on what is happening on campus, no matter how big or small things may be.
Colman manages The Critic’s website and social media pages and contributes with written articles, original photos, and occasionally graphic design content!

Student Government Representative • Phoenix Bulger
Phoenix Bulger is an Atmospheric Science major from the Class of 2026. An alumna of Coe-Brown Northwood Academy, she joined The Critic during her first year at Lyndon. At the end of the 2023 Spring semester she was elected as The Critic’s Student Government Representative. She writes about the weather, events, SGA meeting recaps, and other general articles.
Faculty Advisor • Prof. Meaghan Meachem
Professor Meaghan Meachem has been the advisor of The Critic for the last six years (give or take a few). She is a graduate of Lyndon State College, and came back to Lyndon to teach in 2008. She currently chairs the Journalism & Communications Department at VTSU-Lyndon. Her background in journalism includes a stint at WFSB in Hartford, CT and News10Now in Syracuse, NY, where she was a photographer, editor, and live truck operator.
