Last Thursday night at 8 PM, Northern Vermont University – Lyndon held a “Bingo Night” hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) to give out various prizes to participants. Prizes included big products such as Apple AirPods which drew in a huge crowd to the event.
Before the doors opened to the Moore Community Room, the line to get in the event stretched out past the Public Safety desk. This event is one of the most highly anticipated throughout the year and with the line this long, CAB members were preparing for a large turnout. CAB advisor Michael Secreti commented on the night saying, “At our Bingo last May we had 132 people and at our December Bingo we had 111 people, but at last week’s Bingo we had 155 people.”
Secreti also mentioned that the organization took the students’ input into consideration with all of the prizes. All the prizes at the January 23 Bingo were ones that students had voted on last semester’s Bingo night.
Jade Whitcomb, the grand prize winner, shared her two cents on the night saying, “Winning the grand prizes was very surprising. I tend to be very bad at bingo and so when I threw the final Rock Paper Scissors and won I was very excited. I didn’t even realize what had happened for a few seconds after the game ended.”
CAB also decided to use reusable Bingo slider boards which was a big step forward towards a more affordable and environmentally conscious way of holding the event.
Bingo was a great success and CAB is looking forward to hosting the next one later this semester.
