CAB Meeting — December 2, 2019

The NVU-Lyndon Campus Activities Board (CAB) met in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall to discuss upcoming events on campus in light of the last couple of weeks of the semester. The general board meeting started at 5:10 PM on December 2, following students’ return to campus after Thanksgiving Break.

Prior to vacation, CAB hosted a DIY Hot Cocoa event and comedian Lafayette Wright on November 19 and a Democratic Debate Watch Party on November 20. Over 60 students attended DIY Hot Cocoa, which took place in the Theatre Lobby, and around 40 students attended Lafayette Wright’s comedy show that same night in the Alexander Twilight Theatre. Students expressed that he wasn’t as big of a hit as other comedians that have visited NVU-Lyndon in previous years. Attendance f the Democratic Debate Watch PArty was not taken, but CAB hopes that students who did attend enjoyed the event in The Hive.

Tonight, CAB is partnering with RA Alexander Therriault to host an Ugly Sweater Contest and a Paint & Sip in The Hive. The event will start around 7:00 PM and will have the cash bar open.

CAB will also be hosting another St. J Movie Trip this Friday, December 6. If students need a ride to the Star Theatre in St. Johnsbury, they should contact CAB per the signup link at the bottom of Mike Secreti’s weekly emails. Otherwise, students are welcome to meet at the theatre for a 6:45 PM meet-up time, where CAB will distribute tickets to whatever movie students want to see.

Next week, CAB has four events planned to celebrate the end of the semester. DIY Snow Globes will be put on Tuesday, December 10 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM in the Theatre Lobby. On Thursday, December 12, CAB will be hosting one of Lyndon’s favorite events–BINGO! BINGO will be hosted in the Moore Community Room with an 8:00 PM start time. CAB is still looking for prize suggestions, which can be emailed to them at LyndonCab@northernvermont.edu. Starting on Friday, December 13 at midnight, CAB will be hosting Insomnia Bowling at Gold Crown Lanes in St. Johnsbury. The event is set to end around 2:00 AM Saturday, December 14, which is followed by a Shop ’til You Drop adventure to The Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Transportation for the shopping adventure will leave campus around 9:00 AM.

Sign-ups for those four blockbuster events, as well as more information, will be available in next week’s weekly email from Mike Secreti and at the next CAB meeting.

The meeting concluded at 5:16 PM. Next week, December 9, will be CAB’s last meeting of the semester. As always, it will be hosted in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall around 5:00 PM. CAB’s Facebook page is also a great place to stay updated on events and free stuff by the club!
