CAB Meeting — December 9, 2019

The NVU-Lyndon Campus Activities Board (CAB) met in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall for their final time for the Fall 2019 semester. The general board meeting started at 5:07 PM on December 9.

In the past week, CAB hosted their semesterly DeStressFest, CAB partnered with RA Alexander Therriault for an Ugly Sweater Contest and a Paint & Sip, and CAB sponsored a Movie Trip to Star Theatre in St. Johnsbury. All three events had high numbers compared to all of CAB’s events this semester.

DeStressFest was held on December 3 in the Theatre Lobby from 10:00-2:00 and had over 75 students in attendance. Students enjoyed an oxygen bar, massage chairs, and even got to bring home their own succulents courtesy of RA Keegan Winchenbach.

The Ugly Sweat Contest and Paint & Sip was held in The Hive, also on December 3. Once again, over 75 students stopped in to enjoy painting and hot chocolate.

CAB’s St. J Movie Trip event was held on December 6 and had 23 students in attendance. Students were able to watch Frozen II and Ford v. Ferrari, along with other titles, for free! This event spurred the question about whether or not CAB could look into having private viewings for NVU-Lyndon students when big titles are released.

This week, CAB is hosting BINGO, Insomnia Bowling, and Shop ’til You Drop. BINGO and Insomnia Bowling have historically been the biggest CAB events per attendance and students have been asking about them all semester.

BINGO will take place on Thursday, December 12 at 8:00 PM in the Moore Community Room (ASAC 100). Insomnia Bowling will start Friday, December 13 at 11:59 PM and go on until 2:00 AM the next morning at Gold Crown Lanes in St. Johnsbury. Shop ’til You Drop, a new event on CAB’s schedule, will take students down to The Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Transportation for this trip will leave at 9:00 AM sharp on the morning of December 14.

If you need a ride for Insomnia Bowling or are interested in Shop ’til You Drop, students should look for links at the bottom of Mike Secreti’s weekly event emails to sign-up for transportation.

CAB has been looking for feedback on the events they put on this semester and what students want to see next semester. To participate in their survey, follow this link.

The meeting concluded at 5:16 PM. The Critic will keep you updated on a new meeting time and location next semester as CAB makes that information available. Until then, CAB’s Facebook page is a great place to stay updated on events, meetings, and free giveaways!
