CAB Meeting — November 12th, 2018

The Campus Activities Board’s final meeting before break took place on Monday, November 12th in the Rita Bole Community Room. The meeting began at 7:05 pm and included discussions of recent events, upcoming events, potential events, meeting time changes, and Executive Board elections.

Comedian Irene Tu performed at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Thursday, November 8th. There were about 60 attendees. One general board member, Alexandra Huff, was proud to give the comedian her introduction at the event. According to those who attended, Tu was really funny and talked about serious things in a funny way. The only negatives anyone heard were from those who didn’t go. Some board members expressed that she was the “best comedian so far.” Tu previously visited Lyndon during the Leadership Conference of 2018. Keep an eye out for The Critic’s event article covering Tu’s performance later this week.

CAB changed its Do-It-Yourself Fish Bowl event scheduled for Tuesday, November 13th, to a Do-It-Yourself Fall Centerpieces event scheduled for Thursday, November 15th. This event would include pumpkins, real flowers, and other decorations–just in time for the holidays. The Critic will have a full review of the event soon.

Future events include Do-It-Yourself Stuffed Animals on Tuesday, November 27th (right after break). Visit the Theatre Lobby during the open block period to make your very own stuffed toy. On Tuesday, December 11th, CAB will be hosting its De-stress Fest. This event will include a variety of items (we’ve heard mention of an oxygen bar and potentially massage chairs) to help students de-stress for upcoming finals. Finally, the Final Bingo! of the semester will take place on Friday, December 14th. CAB is in the process of deciding on prizes for the event, but it’s sure to be a good one!

There have been rumors of two other potential events circulating around the meetings. Midnight Bowling and a trip to the Pump House Indoor Waterpark at Jay Peak may be in the future of Lyndon students, so keep an eye on CAB’s Facebook page so you’re the first to know what’s coming up.

For the remainder of the semester, CAB plans to meet on Mondays at 7:00 pm in the Rita Bole Community Room. This meeting time may change next semester due to member schedules.

The meeting concluded with the election of a new CAB Executive Board member. As of the start of this meeting, both the Student Government Representative and the Public Advertising Coordinator positions were open. Bryanna Smith, current Editor-in-Chief for The Critic and writer of the CAB reports, was elected as the Public Advertising Coordinator. An interim SGA representative will be covering the remaining SGA meeting of this semester while elections for the Spring may begin shortly.

The meeting adjourned at 7:19 pm. CAB meets in the Rita Bole Community Room at 7:00 pm on Mondays. Keep track of all upcoming events by visiting CAB’s Facebook page.
