CAB Meeting — November 18, 2019

Once again, the NVU-Lyndon Campus Activities Board met in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall to discuss upcoming events on campus, as well as the Executive Board’s trip to the NACA Conference. The general board meeting started at 5:12 PM on November 18 and was one of the longest-running of the semester.

First, the CAB Executive Board and their advisor each presented what they learned during their time at the National Association for Campus Activities Conference. The NACA Conference gives student organizations like CAB the chance to sample types of college entertainment that they may be willing to spend money on, as well as give them resources and educational sessions to learn about how to become a better leader and role model on their respective campuses. NVU-Lyndon’s CAB Executive Board presented their newfound knowledge on marketing and leading strategies, self-care, and emotional triggers that they hope will soon reflect in their work around campus.

CAB’s Tuesday DIY last week was making DIY Stuffed Animals. The November 12th event had over 89 students in attendance and all 126 stuffed animals were given away!

Thursday night’s MEME Jeopardy took place on November 14 and had approximately 13 students in attendance.

Tuesday night, November 19, at 8 PM, comedian Lafayette Wright will be performing in the Alexander Twilight Theatre. Wright was a showcase talent at last year’s APCA Conference (a very similar, but less formal conference compared to NACA) that the CAB Executive Board and key General Board members thoroughly enjoyed and chose to bring to the NVU-Lyndon campus.

In The Hive on Wednesday, November 20, CAB will be hosting a Democratic Debate Watch Party. The event will start at 8 PM and be catered with food and drinks. Students are encouraged to attend and educate themselves on who they will soon vote for.

Next week, is fall vacation, so there will be no CAB events. However, following students’ return on December 1, CAB will be hosting its semesterly DeStress Fest, as well as an Ugly Sweater Contest, Paint n Sip, and BINGO! These events are in light of the holiday season and finals week that is almost here.

The meeting finally concluded at 5:42 PM. CAB regularly meets in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall around 5:00 PM on Mondays. CAB’s Facebook page is also a great place to stay updated on events and free stuff given away by the club!
