CAB Meeting — November 4, 2019

On November 4, the NVU-Lyndon Campus Activities Board met in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall. The general board meeting started at 5:05 PM with recaps of past events and advertising the upcoming activities of this week and next.

CAB’s DIY Halloween event, which featured slime, cutouts, and scratchboards, had 29 students in attendance on Tuesday, October 29. This event, along with other Tuesday DIYs, was held in the Alexander Twilight Theater Lobby.

On Saturday, November 2, CAB brought 8 students on a Ben & Jerry’s factory tour! This special event was new to the CAB itinerary this year, and students hope to see it again in the future.

This week, CAB is hosting another couple of events that are expected to have higher attendance, along with already planning for next week.

After sending out surveys and getting student opinions, CAB will be hosting a Lyndon edition of Family Feud tonight, November 5, at 8:00 PM in The Hive. The event is expected to have prizes for winners and expose students to the campus culture.

On Thursday, November 7, CAB will be partnering up with WWLR 91.5 The Impulse to host their second Open Mic Night of the semester. This event will also be hosted in The Hive starting at 8:00 PM. Students are welcome to perform whatever they wish, previous acts ranging from guitar to singing to comedy. A higher turnout is expected for this event, many hoping for the return of a particular alumni’s comedy routine.

Finally, some CAB members–General Board and Executive Board–will be traveling to the NACA Northeast Conference in Hartford, Connecticut from Thursday, November 7 until Sunday, November 10. These CAB representatives, who were chosen after submitting an application, will be reviewing activities and talents to possibly bring to the NVU-Lyndon campus. The student body needs to express what entertainment they are interested in for CAB to follow through with information they receive at NACA.

Next week, CAB will be hosting a Tuesday DIY Stuffed Animals event in the Theatre Lobby and Thursday night MEME Jeopardy! in The Hive. More information will be provided at the next CAB meeting.

The meeting concluded at 5:09 PM. CAB regularly meets in the Alumni Dining Room in Steven’s Dining Hall at 5:00 PM on Mondays. CAB’s Facebook page is also a great place to stay updated on events and free stuff given away by the club!
