Bored during quarantine? COVID-19 have you bummed out? Sick of doing the same thing day in, day out? Spice your day up with a themed dinner! On April 18, my family held a themed dinner. The theme: Harry Potter.
You may be asking yourself what in the world is a themed dinner? It is actually quite simple. t is a dinner party that is almost like a child’s birthday. It has one overlying theme that could a book, movie, pirates, Olympians, celebrities, etc. Everything that is part of the dinner goes along with the theme. People dress up as characters from that theme, the food must be popular from that theme, and my favorite part is that you decorate your house to go along with that theme, as well.
For the Harry Potter theme dinner night, our dining room felt like we were in the world of Harry Potter. The entrance was made to look like we were walking through the 9 3/4 station entrance. The table had balloon owls waiting with messages about dinner. What really tied it all together were the signs for escaped prisoners of Azkaban around on the walls. It truly was a sight to see.
Those who attended dinner were great company. Moaning Myrtle, my younger sister, attended and I think for once in her life didn’t complain. Three professors were also in attendance, Severus Snape (my father), Professor Sprout (my mother), and Professor Trelawney (my older sister). I know what you are dying to know, who did I show up as? Well, being a male with brown hair, blue eyes, and wears glasses there really was only one option for me: Harry Potter himself.
This themed dinner really brought something new to my days in quarantine. Harry Potter was a hit and now my family is planning another one for next Saturday. It is a great way to kill time and give you something to look forward to.
