Letter From the Editor

Dear Northern Vermont University – Lyndon,

Is that really how it should start? I realized as soon as I nominated myself to be the next Editor-In-Chief for The Critic last spring that I would eventually have to write a letter from the editor. I put it off all summer. Then I had a moment of clarity: I have no idea what editors even write when they write letters. I searched Google and found plenty of letters to the editor, but very few letters from the editor. So, without further-ado, here is my letter to you.

Welcome to the new website for The Critic. I created it last night, just so I could post this letter on it as our first official article. Never mind that this letter wasn’t even written when I first made it, or that we already had a finished article to post. My name is Bryanna Smith. I’m currently a senior majoring in Animation/Illustration, Game Design, and Computing. It’s a pleasure to officially meet you as The Critic’s president and Editor-in-Chief.

Again, welcome to The Critic. The wonderful newspaper and media outlet previously dedicated to Lyndon State College, and now happy to call NVU Lyndon home. This club has gone through a lot the last few years, most of which I only know through rumor. There are still pieces of the previous The Critic articles and news scattered around the web. Along with the change from LSC to NVU Lyndon, The Critic would like to change from a newspaper to an internet-based media outlet for our students, faculty, staff, community members, alumni, and so on.

We have big plans.

We also have need of journalists, artists, writers, graphic designers, and just about anyone who wants to provide content for The Critic. We have three executive board seats open, and plenty of space for staff members. Speaking of which, it’s not all doom and gloom. We have a wonderful Student Government Representative, Becca Fauteux, who will be bringing you summaries of SGA meetings throughout the semester. We also have a few brand-new staff members and contributors who are already writing, researching, and creating upcoming articles, stories, and entertainment just for you.

I look forward to this following year as I serve as The Critic’s Editor-in-Chief. I hope you will also look forward to what The Critic will become during the first year of Northern Vermont University.

Sincerely,

Signature

Bryanna Smith
Editor-in-Chief
