Lyndon Spotlight: Alexandra Huff

If you are ever wondering who that girl is that (insert anything here), I would put my money on Alexandra Huff.  Alex is involved with almost everything and can be seen everywhere.  The third year student is involved in a variety of things including her second year as a Peer Leader, a reporter and director for News 7/NewsLINC, the Digital Communications Assistant in Student Affairs, a student representative on the NVU-Lyndon Alumni Council, Editor-in-Chief of the Critic, a student representative on the VSCS Forward Task Force, and the SGA Representative of Model UN. Previously, she was President of the Genealogy Club for two years, Resident of the Year 2018-2019, Vice President of The Critic, and Treasurer of Model UN.

Besides joining every single club possible and doing her homework, Huff also enjoys multiple interests. If she isn’t rollerblading or yelling that you’re a nerd across campus, she’s probably playing Pokémon GO. Alexandra is one of the 50 to 70 Pokémon GO players on-campus. She’s been a Pokémon fanatic since childhood and currently has a room in her home dedicated to Pokémon. This game is perfect for her busy lifestyle because when she is going to go to her next club meeting, she may stop at a PokéStop on her way or maybe try to catch one.  This is just one of the many interesting hobbies that Huff has.

All it takes is about 5 minutes to know Alex Huff loves cows, and for good reason. Alex has lived on her family farm since she was 3 years old.  Here, Alex has seen nearly a thousand cows come in and out. Currently, her farm has 98. One of the cows was Wes, who she considered one of her closest friends.  Wes was a Swiss-Holstein cross with who she became very close with in early high school.  Wes will always be in Alex’s heart and her ear.  In the spring of this year, in his remembrance, Alex got a tattoo of Wes’s number behind her left ear, just like him.

Even with doing all of these things, she continues to strive in school.   Alex explained that  “As stressed out as I am, it’s honestly the reason that I get my work done. I need to be under pressure to perform well, so balancing all of these things is something I’ve done my entire life.”

Alex is one of the few students left who is continuing to join clubs and she sees this as a problem.  Alex’s biggest pet peeve is when students complain that there’s nothing to do on campus. However, in her case, she’s proven that there are a million things to do on campus and that students are just not getting involved.  As being her student last year, I often hear her say “Get involved and leave your room.”
