Late into the fall semester of 2019, Northern Vermont University – Lyndon welcomed Caitlin “Cait” Wilkins to its Student Life team. Cait is the new Assistant Director of Student Life, with a focus on residential operations, here on the Lyndon campus. She is also the Residence Hall Director (RHD) for Rita Bole and Poland/Rogers residence halls. Cait is responsible for helping students with moving rooms, buying out their rooms, and other things that the students may need help with while living on campus.
Previously, she was an advisor of first-year students on the Northern Vermont University – Johnson campus and jumped at the opportunity to join the Lyndon community when the Assistant Director position opened. Cait is currently living in Rita Bole with her boyfriend and brown lab, Cabot.
Cait grew up in southern Vermont in a small town called Westminster. Later, she studied History and Elementary Education at Saint Michael’s College. She then worked at Johnson for a little over a year as an advisor. She worked with first-year students as an academic advisor, but also helped with other issues that the students had. She chose to change jobs because she was more interested in working on the residential side of things.
Cait worked as a “dorm parent” at a high school and loved the experience of living on campus and getting to know and help the people around her. She missed that experience and is excited to be living on campus once again.
Since starting at NVU-Lyndon, Cait has been working closely with Mike Secreti who claims, “She has been great to work with and is easy to talk to.”
Being new to the area, Cait is still learning what she enjoys to do around campus and the surrounding area, but Cabot is a big part of her life. Cabot grew up on a college campus and absolutely loves being around so many people. Some of the things Cait has come to enjoy around the Lyndon area is taking Cabot up to Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury. Cait says, “It’s such a nice place, we try and go up there every weekend with Cabot to make new dog friends.” She is excited to visit the lakes in the surrounding area once she settles down. Along with spending time with her dog, Cait is enjoying getting to know the community here at Lyndon.
“Right now my goal is to start getting to more community events at college and getting to know the students around campus,” Cait says. She is excited to get to know everyone on campus and wants to become more acclimated to the campus so she can understand the community better.
Don’t be shy and say hello when you see her! Cait is going to be a great addition to the Lyndon family, so don’t be scared to give a warm welcome as our newest Hornet!
