Northern Vermont University is hosting a flu vaccine clinic on both campuses free to students. Tomorrow, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, students and employees of NVU may get their annual flu shot in the Bole Gym on the Lyndon campus or the Multi Gym on the Johnson campus while supplies last. It is asked that those who want a vaccine bring their NVU ID card with them; no other documentation will be required.
According to the CDC, “flu activity” is low at this time, but October-dated vaccines are the most recommended entering flu season. It is currently week 40 in the calendar year, and the positive-flu count remains parallel to this point last year. Confirmed cases of Influenza A and Influenza B started to rise around week 44 historically. The CDC’s website clearly states that “an annual flu vaccine is the best way to protect against flu and its potentially serious complications.”
The Critic spoke with some students about this opportunity, and many expressed their support and excitement. “Some students can’t get off campus to get flu shots… and for those with busy schedules, it’s hard,” third-year Graphic Design student Rory Conroy said. She is very thankful for this opportunity and will be taking advantage of the clinic tomorrow.
