Northern Vermont University President Elaine Collins announced to the NVU community Wednesday evening that both campuses would be welcoming students back to in-person instruction for the Fall 2020 semester. This announcement was also accompanied by some scheduling changes for the semester regarding starting and ending dates, breaks, and more. NVU Online, however, will continue with its normal schedule beginning August 31.
The beginning of the semester has been pushed one week earlier than originally planned, now scheduled for Tuesday, August 18. This means that Fall Orientation, move-in, and Convocation dates have also been moved up and will be staggered between August 14 through August 17. New and first-year students will arrive on the earlier dates, per the tradition of NVU.
Classes will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 7. Additionally, the October break has been canceled.
Students are asked to exit the residence halls on Friday, November 20 ahead of the Thanksgiving break, which will be November 23 through November 27. Students will not return to campus until January 19 for the start of the Spring 2021 semester. Final exams will be held remotely from November 30 through December 3.
