NVU-Lyndon hosted its very own celebratory dance on Valentine’s Day this past Friday, February 14 at 8:00 PM. Hosted in the warm and inviting Moore Community Room, students from nearly every degree program showed up to show off their skills on the dance floor!
Adorned with familiar red and pink decorations, the Valentine’s Dance was complete with a professional DJ and free food. Students arrived in semi-formal wear, perfect for a night of catching up with friends, both old and new. From the newest music to throwbacks such as Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean,” students were able to cut loose and truly have fun.
Several Peer Leaders and Resident Assistants were also among the crowd, including RA Radek Przygodski who kick-started the event with singing his own English version of a Polish disco song. Another RA, Stephen Sandor, wooed the crowd with his humorous antics of fishing observers out of their chairs and onto the dance floor.
In the sectioned off drink area, Sodexo’s own Julian Borje was serving drinks for students twenty-one and older. The special of the night was a Strawberry Daiquiri, which was just as festive as the dance ornaments. Atmospheric Science student Rosemary Webb even enjoyed a daiquiri herself. When asked what her favorite part of the night was Webb said, “Being able to catch up with friends who I haven’t talked to in a while and drink with them! Being a bit older than most of the crowd, it was nice to have a designated section to drink and socialize.”
This event was planned and organized by the Campus Activities Board, as well as Assistant Director of Student Life, Mike Secreti, who checked students in at the door. From the mingling and the dancing to the celebration of finally reaching Friday, students had a blast at the Valentine’s Day Dance!
