After last year’s success, NVU-Lyndon saw another Trunk or Treat hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In the same location as the year prior, athletic teams brought one car each to the S.H.A.P.E. entrance of the Vail parking lot. Along with athletic teams, one club opted to join the festivities; the Twilight Players hosted a car.
The teams and club weren’t only challenged with handing out candy and treats but were also in competition with one another. The competition was who could decorate their car the best and with last year’s reigning champion, Cross Country, missing due to having a competition, the field was open. The Women’s Basketball team was able to secure the top spot with a Candyland theme, Softball took second with Toy Story, and Baseball took the bronze as they did a Sandlot theme.
Hotdogs, drinks, and popcorn were all available, as well, as Athletic Trainers Chantel Derbyshire and Megan Barnes served them up at their Winter Holiday-themed booth.
Barnes is also the SAAC advisor. She believes the event went well saying “It was another successful year with Trunk or Treat. It was exciting to open the event up to the local children so they could join in the fun too!” Barnes continued on, saying “We are looking for an even larger crowd next year.” This may become a tradition on the NVU-Lyndon campus as SAAC already looks into planning the next event.
