The sixth Student Government Association meeting of the semester started at 8:01pm on April 17th in the Moore Community Room (ASAC 100). This time, the meeting was live-streamed, so go check it out on the SGA’s Facebook page if you want more details on what was discussed.
The Student Body Comments were minimal this meeting. The Veteran’s club noticed that the flag outside is tattered, and suggested replacing it with a hardier one that’s less prone to tattering. Intervarsity Faith club put out a reminder that all are free to attend their bible study meetings and talk about whatever they please, in light of receiving comments from students that they’re too afraid of offending club members with their questions and comments.
Reports and Presentations were also brief. The VSCSA’s next meeting will take place on Friday, May 3rd at 5:30pm, and anyone who’s interested can come on and participate. The general fund has remained the same since last meeting, at $10,935, and voting for the SGA Exec Board positions will take place this week.
In Club and Committee Updates, the peer leaders announced that they are accepting more applicants for next year’s team, and to contact the First Year Experience Office if you’re interested. The RAs requested that if you missed housing selection and/or are looking to move onto campus next year, to contact Student Life since there’s still plenty of rooms left. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to choose where you live this way. The Veteran’s club had an incredibly successful summit this year, and are looking to team up with the Bookstore in a project called Operation Hat Trick. The Bookstore will be selling hats with the club’s logo on it, and proceeds from their sales will go toward the local Veterans. Intervarsity Faith club will be having their bible study in HAC 125 on Monday nights from 6:00-7:00pm. Finally, the SGA wants to remind clubs to send them their new Exec Board names through email once their elections are done.
The meeting concluded at 8:25pm. The next meeting will be on May 1st, same time and place. Keep an eye out on the SGA’s Facebook page for the livestream if you can’t make it in person. We hope to see you there!
