SGA Meeting – November 28, 2018

The latest Student Government Association meeting took place on November 28th at 8:05pm in the Moore Community Room (ASAC 100).  The livestream can be viewed on the Lyndon’s SGA Facebook page.

Under reports and presentations, a survey was done to determine what to do about Lyndon’s hooding ceremony.  Around 150 people participated, and voted to keep the hooding.  In an effort to further unite Johnson and Lyndon, Johnson’s SGA board will be attending our next SGA meeting on December 12th.  They are coming to see how our SGA board run things, as both campuses have plenty of differences there.  Food will be served at that meeting, and President Collins will be making an appearance as well.

Starting in the spring semester, clubs will need to fill out an event planning form for any events they plan to hold.  The form will need to be turned in to the SALC office in Rita Bole at least 14 days in advance of the event, and this must be done in person.  The form is available on the school website in Word format.  The livestream features a run-through of the form and what information is required.

In discussions and action items, the budget is at $27,970.  Nick has requested that all clubs send their receipts to him so he can accurately track how much is being spent.  Bob McCabe of H.O.P.E came to the meeting to ask for a donation.  H.O.P.E has been responsible for a lot of local fundraising, as well as for hosting the annual Color Run.  With a majority vote, $10,000 was donated.

Under club updates, Residential Life has sent out a digital form for everyone to fill out.  It’s a simple intent-to-return form, and it should be in your email if you haven’t already filled it out.  Res Life is also aware that the resident halls can get hot in the winter, but the windows should still stay closed.  Opening them wastes heat, which will only trigger more heating to make up for it, in turn making the problem worse.  Just close and lock your windows, and don’t touch them until Res Life says you can.

The meeting adjourned at 9:24pm.  The final SGA meeting of the semester will take place on December 12th, same place, same time!  Be sure to drop in and welcome Johnson’s SGA board, and enjoy the free food.  If you can’t make it, tune in to the livestream on Facebook.
