VTSU Brings Changes to the Portal

The launch of Vermont State University brings a lot of new things. A slightly updated portal for students, faculty, and staff being one of them. The new portal has updated tiles from the old Northern Vermont University portal along with tiles that were not on the old portal at all. These are the major changes that can be seen in the new Vermont State University portal.

The new tiles to look out for include Disability Services, Career Connection, Graduation, International Student Services,  Student Activities , and VTSU Resources. On top of these tiles, there are new tiles dedicated to commuter students, residential students, and online students, respectively

Disability Services having its own tile means it is easier for disabled students to access the forms and help they need, including the ESA Request Form, the Accommodation Memo Request Form, the Disability Disclosure Form, and Housing Accommodation Guidelines. On top of these, there is a link to VTSU’s Website further explaining the disability services VTSU provides.

The Career Connection tile is still a work in progress at this time, but once completed will have a lot of new resources for VTSU students to help them with their career paths. This includes multiple things to help resume building and finding a career. The graduation tile includes all info about applying to graduate, commencement, a link to the career connection tile, and plan your degree. The VTSU Resources is just VTSU materials, recordings, and other resources.

International Student Services gives our international students quick access to applying for a SSN, tax information, I-20 requests, F-1 employment rules, F-1 student rules and requirements, and making an appointment.

There are also a few tiles that are nowhere to be seen in the new portal. These include I Have a question, which gave links to FAQs of who to reach out to for certain issues for students. Student Employment, Microsoft Office, IT Support, Transformation, Public Safety, and Plan Your Degree are also not in this new portal.

Instead of these being their own tile, most of these deleted tiles can be found within another tile instead. Student employment is now under Student Finances and instead links to VTSU’s website about work study jobs, not UKG or the HR Benefits/UKG Helpdesk ticket that it previously linked to on NVU’s portal. Plan Your Degree is now under the Graduation tile instead of it having its own tile. IT Support is now a link to VSC support under commuter, residential, or online student tiles. At this time, Transformation, Microsoft Office, and Public Safety are not listed under any tiles.
