I attended Lyndon State College from 2009 to 2013. When I was a student at Lyndon State College, it was some of the best times of my life. I ended up meeting my husband there and we are both alumni of Lyndon. I love the small-town atmosphere where everyone knows your name.
I was also part of the Cross Country team and the Track and Field Club. Everyone on both Cross Country and Track made me feel like family; felt like my brothers and sisters, and people that I could rely upon. They are still some of my best friends to this day. I did also love the small community and how some places catered to college students. It gave more of that sense of pride in the community.
Since graduation in December of 2013, I moved to Georgia in 2015 and had a job working as an assistant manager for an Apple Premier store. I got engaged to my boyfriend in 2017, and got married the next year up in Vermont surrounded by friends and family. In 2020, we got news that my husband had accepted a job offer back home in New England where we are both from. We moved up to Caribou, Maine in March of 2020. I accepted a job offer later that year in August to be the International Admissions Specialist for the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
In the fall of last year, we bought a new house in Castle Hill, Maine, more in the country. At the same time, we also inherited a beautiful tuxedo cat named Allie who came with the property. It’s nice to be back to the roots of good ole New England and back to the snowy days.
Getting my degree from Lyndon has helped me move up in my career and keep reaching for the stars. Without my degree, I wouldn’t be working as an Admissions Counselor. I also would have not met my husband if I hadn’t attended Lyndon. It has helped me gain new friends that I am proud to call more like family. It’s also helped me appreciate attending a smaller college and also working for a smaller college.
