With the new school year came a new final exams schedule, but not all NVU students are happy about the change. Starting in the fall semester, final exams were pushed back to a Tuesday through Friday schedule rather than NVU’s regular Monday through Thursday.
According to Tracy Sherbrook, Assistant to the Provost, this change comes because “the Administration and Faculty Federations have worked to align our academic calendars with all VSC institutions.” Since Vermont Tech uses Monday as an instructional day, NVU adjusted its exam dates to fit with the same schedule.
Some students are unhappy about the change. Second-year Jillian Ranauro, who lives in Massachusetts, says she would rather have exams on the Monday-Thursday schedule, so she wouldn’t have to worry about getting home late. Hailey Morgan, a graduating senior, also stated that she preferred the original schedule, saying she used to be able to “get out of here real quick” and have more time on vacation. Second-year James Salvas agrees, stating “having no exams on Monday makes zero sense to me.”
